LOCATION

Southeast Missouri;  Near Cape Girardeau, off Highway 34

UNIQUE FEATURES

Bollinger has outstanding exhibits and displays to interpret the mill and the milling industry.  This is the site of one of the oldest grist mills west of the Mississippi.  The original log mill was built in 1800 on land that was then part of a Spanish land grant.  The mill was rebuilt in 1825 and the stone foundation and dam still exist.

The mill was burned by Union forces during the Civil War.  It was rebuilt and completed in 1867.

Next to the mill is a beautiful park and the oldest surviving covered bridge in Missouri (1868).

WORKING MILL?

YES. Water powered turbines provide power to stones.  Much of the original machinery still exists.
