NAME

Potter’s Mill

BUILT

1843 and opened in 1845

LOCATION

Bellevue, Iowa
Bellevue is a picturesque old river town on the banks of the Mississippi River just a few miles south of Dubuque, Iowa on Iowa Highway 52.

UNIQUE FEATURES

Iowa’s oldest surviving grist mill.  It is now a regionally popular restaurant.

Parts of the mill have recently been converted into a bed and breakfast as well.

The atmosphere and much of the machinery can be experienced in the restaurant and the B & B.

Owners Daryll and Carolyn Eggers began lovingly restoring this important part of Iowa history in 1980.  They have preserved as much of the original structure and interior as possible.  The Eggers are well versed in grist mills and their restoration as well as being gracious hosts.

WORKING MILL?
